A bowel movement diary built around the Bristol stool scale — the same record a gastroenterologist asks patients to keep on paper. Stool Log is a plain notebook: pick the type, tick what applies, add a short note, and you are done in about ten seconds.
When a GI doctor asks "how often, and what was it like?", a dated list answers better than memory. This app keeps that list on your phone, ready to open at the next appointment.
HOW TO LOG AN ENTRY
• Pick the Bristol stool scale type — Type 1 (hard lumps) to Type 7 (liquid), the standard scale printed on paper bowel diaries
• Tick what applies: blood present, pain or straining, took medication — and name the medication if you did
• Add an optional note — after breakfast, travel day — and tap "Save Entry"
THE PATTERN, PLAINLY
Saved entries appear newest first, and the home screen shows the last seven days at a glance — frequency and gaps included, which is what constipation and IBS follow-ups ask about. History groups every day, and chips filter by Bristol type, so you can see exactly how often the loose days or the hard days happen.
YOUR RECORD STAYS YOURS
A bowel diary is nobody else's business. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server: the app works completely offline and keeps every entry on your device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is shared, and your history is never held behind a subscription. Free means free: unlimited entries, no daily limit, no premium tier.
TAKE IT TO YOUR APPOINTMENT
Export the entire history to a CSV file at any time — open it in a spreadsheet, print it, or hand your phone over at the clinic. Bristol type, blood, pain, medication, and notes, each with date and time.
WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO
This is a diary, not a medical device. It does not diagnose any condition, does not rate entries as normal or abnormal, and does not give medical advice. There is no symptom checker and there are no treatment tips. If something in your record worries you, take it to a doctor — this app just makes sure you arrive with the facts written down.
WHO FINDS IT USEFUL
• People with IBS, IBD, or chronic constipation whose doctor asked for a bowel diary
• Anyone preparing for a GI appointment or a colonoscopy follow-up
• Caregivers asked to keep a bowel record for someone they look after
• Anyone tired of bowel apps with full-screen ads, forced accounts, and subscriptions
ADS, PLAINLY
A small banner keeps the app free. There are no full-screen ads and no video ads, and saving an entry is never interrupted or blocked by an ad.
Start with the next entry. A dated record of Bristol type, blood, pain, and medication is exactly what a bowel consultation asks for — and it takes ten seconds to keep.
